Gulf Coast Life!
Young women’s use of tanning salons may be causing a rise in melanoma; “Dolphin SMART” seeks protection for wild dolphins; citizens stand up against a junk yard in Fort Myers; how the Sunshine State is generating a buzz with its backyard bees and why environmentalists are opposed to the River of Grass Greenway. Hosted by Amy Tardif.
Gulf Coast Life!
From a segment produced by Morning Edition Host John Davis equine-assisted therapy for veterans, to Tardif's in-depth feature on whether the condition of the gulf's pink shrimp can show us how Everglades restoration is doing, the magazine-format program seeks to inform and educate. All Things Considered Host Topher Forhecz produced two segments — one that looks at how some golf courses are being transitioned back to their natural state and another on two racetracks revitalizing short-track car racing. The program even includes a segment on Google mapping of our coastline produced by veteran reporter and former host Valerie Alker.

STORYCORPS STORIES
A selection of StoryCorps stories I facilitated and produced for broadcast.
They begin with my favorite StoryCorps story: Dr. Robert Hilliard of Sanibel was a 20-year-old Purple Heart recipient serving as a reporter in the U.S. Army in Germany right after World War II ended when he was sent to cover what would become the story of his life. It was a liberation concert at a makeshift hospital and displaced persons’ camp at a former monastery outside Munich called St. Ottilien. At the Story Corps mobile booth in Fort Myers, he speaks with his friend Amy Tardif who produced a play he wrote about that experience. At 91-years-old Hilliard remains politically active. He attended the women's march in Washington, D.C. in January. He is an author and a playwright who uses his words today to fight hate. He turns 100 in June 2025. WATCH BY CLICKING THE PHOTO
